Brazilian Federal Police Investigates Alleged Corruption and Official Secrecy Breach

Brazil’s Federal Police launched Operation Porteira Fechada to investigate possible corruption, breach of official secrecy and related offences in the federal public administration. The police allege that a public servant received undue advantages to intervene in administrative proceedings, and that companies with a history of fraudulent tax-compensation claims may have benefited from tax-liability reductions.

A federal court ordered the suspect’s precautionary removal from public duties, and authorities executed five search-and-seizure warrants. The investigation remains ongoing; no charges, convictions or settlements are reported. Seized materials will be examined for evidence of involvement by other public servants and professionals.
