Former Census Bureau official sentenced over $790,000 kickback conspiracy

Former U.S. Census Bureau supervisory official Camille Jones was sentenced to two years in prison and one year of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery and honest-services fraud. The DOJ said she admitted steering a multimillion-dollar contract and modifications to a prime contractor and a subcontractor owned by a relative, receiving $790,000 in kickbacks, and forfeiture of the scheme’s proceeds was ordered.

According to court documents, Jones also admitted sharing confidential procurement information and arranging a backdated service agreement to make kickbacks appear to be consulting payments. Yolanda M. Jones, the subcontractor’s owner, pleaded guilty in August 2025 and is awaiting sentencing; the source does not state the amount of Camille Jones’s forfeiture.
