Two sentenced in Wayne County property and bribery conspiracy

Zina Thomas was sentenced to 90 months’ imprisonment following her conviction for federal program bribery. Jontae Jackson was sentenced to 66 months after convictions for conspiracy to commit bribery and aggravated identity theft.

According to court records cited by the DOJ, Thomas bribed Jackson, a former Wayne County Treasurer’s Office taxpayer assistant, to upload false documents and halt tax foreclosures. The scheme involved approximately 100 properties valued at $6.4 million and an estimated $1.5 million in lost tax revenue.
