Jackson County interim executive indicted over alleged election-related bribery scheme

The DOJ said a federal grand jury indicted Philip LeVota, Interim Jackson County Executive, on charges including honest services fraud, federal program bribery, Travel Act violations and making a false statement to federal agents. According to the indictment, LeVota allegedly offered government positions to induce a candidate to withdraw from the 2026 county executive election.
