Three charged in alleged bribery scheme involving diverted USPS parcels

A federal grand jury in Puerto Rico indicted USPS City Carrier Héctor Melvin Candelaria-Carrero and two others on bribery and drug-trafficking conspiracy charges. The DOJ alleges that, between January 2022 and April 2024, Candelaria-Carrero diverted or stole parcels and provided them to the other defendants in exchange for bribe payments.

The defendants have been charged but not convicted; the indictment is an allegation and they are presumed innocent. The DOJ said the investigation was led by the USPS Office of Inspector General with the FBI; no plea, conviction or settlement was reported.
