Florida DME Company Owner Pleads Guilty to Anti-Kickback Conspiracy

Deane Gilmore, owner and manager of two Florida durable medical equipment companies, pleaded guilty to conspiring to pay and receive kickbacks, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The DOJ said telemarketers and call centres were paid per order to obtain Medicare beneficiary information and prepare DME orders, including orders supported by false documentation.

The DOJ said approximately $6.5 million in kickback-tainted claims were submitted to Medicare, which paid about $2.3 million. Gilmore was charged in December 2025; sentencing is scheduled for May 12, 2026, so no sentence has yet been imposed.
