Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates Agrees $4.75m False Claims Act Settlement

Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates agreed to pay $4.75 million to resolve U.S. allegations that it received unlawful remuneration from Advanced Pathology Solutions in exchange for exclusive referrals of pathology services. The settlement resolves allegations and is not described as a conviction or admission of liability.

The United States also alleged that the practice performed and billed for medically unnecessary special stains through an automatic ordering process without pathologist review or supporting medical-record justification. The parties ended their relationship in approximately May 2020, according to the DOJ.
