The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said the United States filed and settled a healthcare fraud lawsuit against New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. The complaint alleged that the hospital paid a Westchester oncology practice millions of dollars under contracts to induce patient referrals, including payments for services that were not performed or documented.
Under the settlement, NYPHV agreed to pay $6,836,764.30 plus interest. The hospital also admitted and accepted responsibility for certain alleged conduct, including paying more than $4 million for work that was not performed, not performed as contracted, or lacked time records.
