Hong Kong contractor convicted of offering HK$1.3m in renovation-work bribes

The Hong Kong ICAC said Lee Shing-kan, sole proprietor of Art Land Decoration Co., was convicted after trial of four counts of offering advantages totalling HK$1.3 million to a New Estate Company employee in connection with property renovation works.

The employee, Mak Wing-chun, previously pleaded guilty to four counts of accepting an advantage. The court said New Estate had no internal procurement procedures between November 2020 and June 2022, and did not require quotations or tenders when selecting contractors. Sentencing was adjourned to June 12, 2026.
