Hong Kong ICAC arrests 14 over suspected bribery linked to cleaning-service contracts

Hong Kong’s ICAC said it arrested 14 people, including three employees of a listed cleaning-services company and proprietors and employees of three subcontractors. The suspects allegedly accepted advantages in connection with awarding commercial-sector service contracts and vehicle supply and maintenance contracts; the ICAC said no government contract was involved.

The investigation concerns suspected breaches of Hong Kong’s Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, conspiracy to defraud and money laundering. Searches reportedly uncovered about HK$1 million in cash and watches valued at more than HK$10 million, which the ICAC suspects were linked to bribes or crime proceeds.
