US secures more than $1.3 million in civil damages and penalties in defence-contract bribery case

The DOJ said former Air Force contracting officer Brian Lowell Nash II accepted more than $400,000 in bribes from contractor Ryan Dalbec and Raihana Nadem. According to court documents, Nash provided confidential bidding information relating to more than $8.25 million in Department of War contracts, helping Best Choice Construction secure multiple awards.

All three individuals were previously convicted in federal court; Nash received a 30-month prison sentence and Dalbec a 42-month sentence. In a separate civil action, the United States obtained a judgment exceeding $1.3 million against Nash, Dalbec, Nadem and Best Choice Construction under the False Claims Act, including treble damages and penalties.
