Brazilian Federal Police investigate alleged bid fraud and corruption linked to Acre public works

Brazil’s Federal Police and the CGU launched investigations into the contracting and completion of the Instituto de Meio Ambiente do Acre headquarters. The authorities allege approximately R$1.2 million in overpricing linked to partially uncompleted works, possible diversion of contract funds for private expenses and improper advantages to public agents, and atypical financial transactions.

In a separate operation, the Federal Police said a network may have obtained and shared information about police operations to undermine investigative measures. Authorities executed 28 search warrants, secured assets and imposed precautionary measures; three suspects were arrested in flagrante for alleged illegal firearms possession. The investigation remains ongoing, and no convictions or settlements were reported.
