BALT USA enters French CJIP over alleged public-official bribery

The Paris Judicial Court validated a CJIP between France’s National Financial Prosecutor’s Office and BALT USA. The company agreed to pay a €1,765,493 public-interest fine, with a €1,168,861 deduction for disgorgement applied by the US Department of Justice under a concurrent declination agreement. The CJIP is not a conviction and does not address third parties or individuals.

The PNF said the matter followed BALT’s voluntary disclosure of allegations identified through an internal investigation involving a former executive of acquired company BLOCKADE MEDICAL. The agreement requires a three-year compliance programme overseen by the French Anti-Corruption Agency, with costs capped at €700,000; payment extinguishes the public action against BALT USA under the CJIP’s terms.
